This week, I welcome Susan Day to Friday Five.

Without even realising I have become a semi-expert on Twitter so I thought I’d share five most effective things you can do to promote your work. These tips will help you no matter what field of work you are in.

Twitter is becoming more focused on professionals sharing their work with you and your work with their followers. Unlike Facebook and other social media sites, it is fast moving and always current. I use Facebook and Pinterest too but they are more like billboards or semi-static flyers. I engage with my friends and family and my author friends there but it’s not really about sales. It’s Day 3 of the Author Blog Challenge. Today’s prompt is:

Are you on Twitter? Perhaps more than any of the other social media platforms, Twitter has developed its own languageTweets.TwitterverseRewteet. Are you invested in the lingo? So how do you make a statement in 140 characters? Are you following more people or are more people following you? How do you decide whom to follow? Do you reciprocate and automatically follow back everyone who follows you? What kinds of things do you post? How often do you post? What advice do you have for those who are just getting started?
