An issue with my blog

Issue with the blog

You may have noticed that there hasn’t been a Friday Five for a couple of weeks. Also, if you visited my home page, you would have seen the latest post was from November last year!

There has been an issue with my site that has resulted in a number of posts being lost.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a complete back up, which means I’ll be recreating posts and backdating them. For those of you who subscribe to my blog, this may mean you will get a number of emails as I put posts back up. For this, I apologise.

I hope this won’t take too long and we will be back to normal programming as soon as possible.

On the plus side, while my host has been trying to sort out the issue, I have been writing some posts in the background and I can’t wait to share them with you.

Please be patient while I get posts back up again.

In Australia, Book Week happens in August and it’s an event that is celebrated in most schools. For children’s authors, book week is a great way to promote their books.

One great way to generate content for your blog or website is to invite your fans to send you photographs of their book week costumes that feature your characters. You can even turn it in to a competition by giving away a signed copy of your latest book or some merchandise that is related to your books, such as a t-shirt or library bag. [Read more…]

For a fun post, write a letter to your readers – from one of your characters.

This can be a great way to introduce your characters to your readers, and use your characters to talk about an incident in your book, or even where they are relaxing while waiting for the book to come out. [Read more…]

A few weeks ago, I suggested you choose a theme song for your main character. In your story, you may have a key scene that requires a soundtrack. Choose a piece of music for that scene and share it with your readers, along with the YouTube clip of that song. [Read more…]

Most book lovers have a “To Be Read” pile consisting of books they’ve bought, been given as gifts, borrowed from the library, or picked up in other places. Even with eBooks, there are books piling up. There’s nothing wrong with a “To Be Read” pile, all it means is that we have more books than reading time. [Read more…]

Writers are readers… in this blog post, share the book, or books, you are reading right now.

Obviously, if you’re a children’s author, it may not be a good idea to share the latest erotic thriller you may be reading, however if there’s a book that would appeal to your readers, let them know about it. [Read more…]
