Chapter Book Challenge 2016 – The first two weeks #ChaBooCha

Chapter Book Challenge 2016

Chapter Book Challenge 2016

I can’t believe this years Chapter Book Challenge is half over! If you’ve been following this blog for a while, you’ll know I usually write a blog post with my progress each week! For some reason this year, time has slipped away.

At the start of the month, I had two stories I wanted to work on. One was a new Green Oaks Primary School story, and the other was one I was playing with last year, then for some reason, another idea popped into my head last week!

Things have been going well for my second story. Between my laptop and my iPad, words have been getting on the page. It’s going to need quite a bit of polishing, but there are some gems in there.

Last night, however, I decided I need to get series about the Green Oaks Primary School book. I opened up my usual tool for the challenge, 750words.com, and wrote two chapters. I am setting myself an unofficial goal of publishing a book a year for this series, it’s been about 18 months since Swallow Me, NOW! came out… If I want to achieve this goal, I need to get working on the next book.

This idea is another one inspired by my kids and also has a bullying theme, but this time it’s a different kind of bullying. I was enjoying exploring the dynamics of friendship when I was writing last night, as well as looking at the adults in a kids life they talk to. In Swallow Me, NOW!, the trusted adult is Sam’s dad, in this one, there is someone else.

As well as writing my books for the challenge, I have also written a blog post for it, hosted a German exchange student, and done all the other things a working parent needs to do!

I’m on track to complete the challenge this year. Will update again soon.
