Getting ready for a Challenge!

My first ChaBooCha winner badge!

My first ChaBooCha winner badge!

I’m so excited. In a matter of days, the 2016 Chapter Book Challenge kicks off. For anyone who doesn’t know about this, it’s a challenge held every March to write the first draft of a children’s or YA novel in a month. I have been participating since 2012 and have used my first winners badge in this post because I’m too excited to wait for this years images to be ready to post about it!!

Last year was the first year I didn’t complete a full manuscript, however the following month I did. That story is about to be published! We are aiming for a 12 May launch.

My first book, Swallow Me, NOW! was written as a result of the Chapter Book Challenge too.

I have two ideas I want to work on. One is another story for my Green Oaks Primary School series, the second is a story I started playing with last year that I really want to finish.

This challenge has been a huge help in my writing journey as it gives me a deadline for my draft. It also gives me a wonderful, supportive community who answer questions, help with writers block, and help keep me accountable. There are also a lot of posts that have tips and tricks to put together a manuscript draft and there are prizes to be won.

If you’re an author of children’s and/or YA novels, there is still time to sign up for this years challenge. Click here to sign up, it’s free to join!
