Chapter Book Challenge – Week 3 #ChaBooCha

Week 3 – ChaBooCha

I’ve done it! Last week, I not only completed the first draft for my chapter book, I have also typed it up as a first run through edit.

On Friday, I took a leap and sent it to a few people to read it and give me their first impression feedback, including my editor who has been working with me on my chapter book from last year.

The sort of feedback I’m looking for at this stage is the big picture stuff rather than more detailed edits. This includes:

  • does the story make sense?
  • are the characters believable?
  • is there enough action to keep the story moving forward?
  • any big holes in the story?

I’ll also be asking Mr N to read it to make sure any of the descriptions of football are correct.

Once I get the comments back, I plan to start editing slowly. In the mean time, it will be back to the story I wrote last year. My amazing editor sent me back the last lot of edits just before this challenge started. I haven’t had a chance to read them yet, so it’s time to get to them.

I’m so excited that this first draft is now done. Is it weird that I’m already looking forward to next years challenge?
