Friday Five – Why books make awesome gifts

Books make great gifts

Christmas is over for another year. I was so excited to see the piles of new books we all received – guess what we’re going to be doing this summer. I only hope they’ll last…

Here are five reasons why books make such wonderful gifts, not only at Christmas, but all throughout the year.

  1. Books don’t go off – they are gifts that can be enjoyed all year around, so it doesn’t matter how many books you have, they will be waiting there when you’re ready to read them.
  2. Easy to wrap – after trying to wrap some of the gifts under the tree, I realised how easy books are to wrap. Most books are the standard book shape that is easy to fit in the wrapping paper, stick the paper, tie the ribbon, etc.
  3. Lots of books to choose from – walk into any bookshop and you will see hundreds of books that there are books for everyone. This Christmas alone, I purchased cookbooks, joke books, novels, picture books, gift books, non-fiction books, and more. No two people on my list received the same book.
  4. Budget friendly – just as there are lots of books to choose from, they also come in a lot of different prices. You are sure to find a book that will suit your gift buying budget. This year alone, I was able to find $5 books for stocking gifts to $30 books for a Kris Kringle gift.
  5. You can borrow them after Christmas – there are a few books I gave this Christmas that I have already put my hand up to borrow as I really wanted to keep them myself to read. This isn’t something you can say about many other gifts. This has to be one of the best reasons books make awesome gifts.

I’m sure there are more reasons than just this five. Please add your reasons by adding a comment. I would love to see this list grow.
