Multiple genre

Pick the box

Following on from my post yesterday about November Challenges, and reading posts from friends who are doing the various challenges, it seems I’m in a bit of an odd space, in that I write books in more than one genre.

Many of the challenges are saying they are the answer to NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) for those who don’t write novels. This goes a long way to explain why all the challenges are happening in November. One of the reasons I was having problems deciding which challenge to be part of is because I write a number of different genre. These include:

  • Picture books
  • Chapter books
  • Flash Fiction
  • Non-fiction
  • Novels (at least I try to write these)

I’m sure there are other authors in a similar position to me, and this does prove a challenge to my poor web designer with my new site.

Why do I write in such a variety of genre?

The answer is simple – because my mind seems to work that way! If I get bored writing something, I can always switch. I also seem to have story and book ideas swirling in my head that just won’t let me go, and they refuse to stay with a particular genre.
