Prompt #7 – Google +

Getting in to Google +

It’s Day 7 of the Author Blog Challenge. Today’s prompt is:

Have you jumped into Google+ yet? If you are a regular user, you are still considered an early adopter, and that’s a great place to be in order to make a name for yourself while few others are – especially if men are among your target market, as most users right now are male. As marketing pro Linda Sherman puts it, “GooglePlus can give you access to influencers (i.e., other early adopters) who might not notice you elsewhere.” This is a CHALLENGE, so here’s my challenge with this prompt: If you’re USING Goolge+, tell us about your experience. If you’re NOT using Google+, don’t just write, “Blah, blah, blah I’m not using it …” and  call it a post. Do a little research. Learn one thing about Google+ that you find interesting, that might make it worth your time and effort to explore. No – I’m not suggesting you be on every social media platform, but the goal of this Challenge is to explore the various social networks, so let’s do that! And if you are on Google+, be sure to give us your link.

I’ve only just started looking at Google +. I have created a page for this blog, you can see it here.

One of the biggest things I’ve found with Google+ is that I can’t see how to create an auto feed from my blog to my pages on there. I keep forgetting to go there and posting my links, mostly because everywhere else has an auto feed! I’m also still working out how to grow my circles on Google +, especially when it comes to my pages.

I’m finding that more people are spending time on Facebook than on Google +, though this may be changing.

One thing I do know is that I need to spend a bit more time on there to learn how to use it better. I’m hoping that some of the other writers in this challenge will have some tips on how I can use it better.

  1. I’m in the process of creating a Google+ series. I’ve seen some great results using Google+ and it’s a platform that is going to only get better with it’s features. I think in time we will be able to post from our blogs to Google+ but for now like you I go and post manually. I’ll have to add you to my circles!

  2. Me, too, Melissa – so many networking opportunities – so little time 🙂

  3. I think there are too many different things we can do, face book. twitter, amazon, google. it never ends. So hard ot know what is worth spending the time on. After this blog challenge I am going to reset my marketing plan and give myself targets for each week. That way I might actually get some writing done as well!

  4. I’d set up some kind of schedule. Otherwise, all the social networking stuff can become a huge time suck. I clicked your link… Couldn’t find your page 🙁 You have to go to public view to get the correct one, I believe. WRITE ON!
