Prompt #3 – Twitter

I’m on Twitter… kind of!

It’s Day 3 of the Author Blog Challenge. Today’s prompt is:

Are you on Twitter? Perhaps more than any of the other social media platforms, Twitter has developed its own languageTweets.TwitterverseRewteet. Are you invested in the lingo? So how do you make a statement in 140 characters? Are you following more people or are more people following you? How do you decide whom to follow? Do you reciprocate and automatically follow back everyone who follows you? What kinds of things do you post? How often do you post? What advice do you have for those who are just getting started? IF YOU’RE NOT USING Twitter, go look at it (twitter.com) and either find your favorite author or put “author” in the search field and look around. What’s your take? Which tweets interest you? What would you post if you did decide to create an account? What’s the likelihood you’ll be following @AuthorBlogChal anytime soon?

I am on Twitter at @MissieK, but I don’t post there much… Most of what I post there is an auto feed from my blogs.

In the days I worked from home, I had a lot more time to interact there, however lately I’m finding it hard to keep up with all the tweets. I’ve started unfollowing people who I’m not interested in. I have some really weird people following me! I have no idea why they do, probably in the hope that I will follow them back.

The only people I follow back are those who interest me, usually other authors as well as some bloggers and small business owners. Ever now and again I will go through an clean out my list as there are many people I followed in a previous life as a business owner.

It would be great if I had more time to interact on Twitter and I’m sure that day will come. For now, though, it’s mostly an auto feed from my blogs, and when I use Pinterest, the pins also go to Twitter.

  1. Hi Melissa, I have just followed you on twitter – hope I’m not one of the really weird – although that may be true at times 🙂

  2. I don’t follow everyone who follows me either. I’ve learned to say a lot with those few characters!

  3. Followed you too!!!! I don’t think I’m too strange…. I only follow people back if I can see why they are on twitter or are as you say interesting!!!

Ha! I already followed you on Twitter 😛 I’m with you about not having a lot of time but Flipboard can’t be beat when keeping up with all social networking sites. If you have an Apple or Android device, you can get it free. WRITE ON!
