Update: Princess picture book…

Update on my princess story

Back in March, I entered a Flash Fiction competition and won! My story, My Princess Wears a Superman Cape, was well received and I have been working on it to turn it into a picture book.

The first step was to send it off to Julie for a critique, I was a little bit nervous about this… but I didn’t need to be. Julie gave me some excellent feedback on my story and direction of how to turn my snippet into a picture book. Unfortunately the blog post I did about this disappeared when I had some blog issues…

Over the last few days, I’ve had a few brainwaves about my story, how to start it and finish it. I just haven’t had the time to write it all down.

This afternoon, I found I had the house to myself, and sat down and wrote out the story. Quite a bit of the original story also needed to be edited so it would make sense with the new beginning. It is very rough and still needs a lot of work, but it’s further down the road than it was even a few hours ago.

The next step: sit on it for a few days and do some editing. Then send it to one or two of my critique partners for their comments before sending it back to Julie for a further critique.

Thank you everyone for your support with this story. It’s coming together, slowly but surely.
