Prompt #21 – Best advice for the publishing process

Advice for publishing

The 21st prompt for the Author Blog Challenge is:

What is the single best piece of advice you’ve ever received about the publishing process and/or would advice would you offer to a first-time author?

This is a hard one… lately I’ve had so much advice, it’s hard to pick just one.

I suppose one of the best pieces of advice has been to spend time to get your manuscript right before you send it. This includes using critique groups or partners and investing in professional editing and critique’s to make sure all the bumps have been ironed out so I can present publishers with the best version of my work possible.

  1. It can be so difficult to weed through all of the advice and pick a “best” bit of advice. I think different advice can be “best” at different times and stages in the process. I agree that it is so important to have your manuscript READY before sending it off.
