A very special visitor over Easter

This blog post is a little bit overdue… I misplaced my flash card reader (again!!).

Over the Easter weekend, we had a very special visitor. Punxutawney Phyllis came all the way from the US, via New Zealand and Eastern Melbourne to spend the long weekend with us as part of her World Tour.

Phyllis receives a warm welcome from Jazz

She arrived on Thursday afternoon and received a warm welcome from my boys as well as Jazz, our blue tongue lizard. Jazz and Phyllis hit it off right away, planning all sorts of mischief to get in to.

Watching the Brisbane vs Carlton match

Mr N introduced Phyllis to Aussie Rules football, watching the Brisbane vs Carlton match on TV in preparation for taking her to the big match at the MCG on Monday. She wasn’t sure about the game but easily got caught up in the enthusiasm of those watching.

Phyllis came to church with us for Easter

As it was Easter, Phyllis came to church with us on Good Friday and Easter Day. It was beautiful and sunny and Phyllis loved the flowers that decorated the church for Easter, as well as the beautiful singing by the choir.

Ready for the football

On Monday, Phyllis went to the MCG to watch the football with Mr N. The match was Geelong vs Hawthorn. She couldn’t believe how big the stadium is and how many people were there, yelling and screaming supporting their teams. She donned the Cats colours along with Mr N. The cats won by two points! She had a sore throat from all the yelling. It was hard not to get caught up in the excitement on the game.

Playing in the park

To round out a wonderful few days, Phyllis went to play in the local park with the boys before heading to the post office for her trip to South Korea.

It was a flying visit, but Phyllis had a wonderful time, and didn’t get up to too much mischief…

Melbourne put on wonderful weather for her, with the typical four seasons in one day – including a spectacular storm on the Thursday night, cold, raining, sunny. Temperatures ranged from 17 degrees to 25 degrees on different days (I didn’t write down the weather for each day!)
