Different interpretation of words

Different views on the same words

The good news is this – inspiration finally arrived last night.

This morning, I read what I had written to my two boys, aged 9 & 7.

I described socks as “bright orange socks with flashy purple spots on them.” I looked up bright in the thesaurus and flashy was one of the suggestions.

Mr N, age 9, thought they were orange socks with big, bright purple spots on them.

Mr Z, age 7, thought the purple spots had glitter or sparkles in them.

I thought it was interesting that there were two different interpretations of the same description. My intention was to describe socks that were orange with purple spots on them!

Even with their different views, they love the story and want me to keep writing…
